This legendary trail is believed to be the place where Lord Brahma meditated, hence the name “Brahmatal.” The trek begins through beautiful oak and rhododendron forests and slowly ascends to high-altitude meadows and open ridges, with panoramic views of Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, and other mighty Himalayan peaks. Best Time to Visit

The best time to experience the Brahmatal Lake Trek is from mid-December to March, when the entire trail is covered in snow, and the frozen Brahmatal Lake reflects the beauty of the winter sky. If you want snow adventure, this is the time to go!

Quick Itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Rishikesh to Lohajung (approx. 250 km / 10–11 hours)

  •  Long scenic drive through Uttarakhand hills to reach the base village of Lohajung.

Day 2: Trek from Lohajung to Bekaltal (approx. 6 km / 4–5 hours)

  •  Moderate trek through forests and meadows to reach the serene Bekaltal Lake campsite.

Day 3: Trek from Bekaltal to Brahmatal (approx. 7 km / 5–6 hours)

  •  Ascend gradually through snow-covered trails to the picturesque Brahmatal campsite.

Day 4: Hike to Brahmatal Top and back (approx. 6 km / 5 hours)

  •  Early morning hike to Brahmatal Peak for stunning sunrise views, then return to camp.

Day 5: Return to Lohajung via Bekaltal (approx. 7–8 km / 5 hours)

  •  Descend back through Bekaltal, enjoying alpine landscapes and forests en route to Lohajung.

Day 6: Buffer/rest day (optional local exploration)

  •  Free day to rest or explore nearby villages and natural surroundings at leisure.

Day 7: Drive back to Rishikesh

  •  Scenic drive back to Rishikesh, concluding the trek.

Day 5: Drive back to Dehradun

  •  Drive down the scenic route from Sankri to Dehradun, concluding the trek.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Rishikesh to Lohajung

Start your journey early morning with a scenic drive through Devprayag and Karnaprayag valleys. The roads wind through pine forests and mountain rivers until you reach Lohajung — a quaint Himalayan village and your trek base.

Day 2: Lohajung to Bekaltal Trek

Begin the trek through dense oak and rhododendron forests. After a 4–5 hour walk, you reach Bekaltal, a beautiful alpine lake. Camp overnight near the lake, surrounded by silence and nature.

Day 3: Bekaltal to Brahmatal

As you climb higher, snow starts appearing. You pass through wide meadows and ridges with your first views of Trishul and Nanda Ghunti. After 6–7 km, reach the surreal Brahmatal campsite — calm, snowy, and surrounded by peaks.

Day 4: Summit Day – Brahmatal Top and Back

Start early to reach Brahmatal Top, the highest point of the trek (~12,250 ft). From here, enjoy 360° views of Himalayan ranges. Visit the frozen Brahmatal Lake, and take stunning photos. Return to camp by evening.

Day 5: Return to Lohajung via Bekaltal

The trail winds back through forests and familiar snowy paths. Reach Lohajung by evening and stay in a warm guesthouse. Celebrate the end of your snowy adventure!

Day 6: Buffer Day / Local Sightseeing (Optional)

Explore nearby village life, rest, or simply relax. Make My Hikes team arranges small cultural tours upon request.

Day 7: Drive Back to Rishikesh
